Boost Africa Foundation

So I have had a few inquiries about how to help out the kids of Boost Africa and what you all could do.
Honestly, without you being here in the country, the only thing you could do is sponsor a child or donate money to the foundation. The things that are needed are things that need to be bought here and not really sent via mail. Plus, sending packages is not always trustworthy.

Sponsor a child. A uniform cost about $50 a child. It provides them with the appropriate clothing needed to attend school as well as the basics they need for class. Such as two pencils and a pad of paper. (paper is a luxury for some of these students, and having pens or pencils is not common) The schools here do not provide anything. If you cannot afford pen and paper, then hopefully you have a good memory! There are about 50 kids or so per class and usually there is only one teacher. If a kid falls behind, there really is nothing they can do about it. A kid has the option of taking a grade three times, and if they don’t pass on the 3rd time, they just promote him to the next grade up. Which then also leads to drop outs because the kids don’t know what is going on. If you are of the age about 10ish, and had to drop out of school, there is no program to get back into school. Once you are out, you’re out! You will have to wait until you are about 18 and then go get your GED sort of. They don’t actually have anything equivalent to a GED, but it’s the easiest way for me to explain it. So, doing the after school program that we do also helps them with homework and we do weekly reports on them to see if they need any extra attention.

There are lots of paintings that you could purchase, but shipping might be a little expensive. The paintings are pretty cheap and they are beautiful in person. Then there are always the other things like necklaces and such. There is no online store, so it’s hard to show you what is available, but if you happen to see anything in any of the pictures that I post, let me know and we can chat about it.

I have also tried to put a video on here, I’m not sure if it is going to work or not. Sorry if it doesn’t’. It’s just a little something about Boost Africa.

If you do feel led to helping out a child, you also have to know that it’s not like World Vision or anything where you give the foundation money and we send you a photo. There might not be one specific kid that gets the money, it might go towards uniforms for two or three if we find good deals and we are always getting new kids and old was leave the program because their parents get a job or something like that, so there is not much that can be done to show you what kid you supported, but we can send you pictures of the events that we do that has all the kids in there. Sorry, but it’s the best we can do right now until we figure out a better system.

Also, because this is a non-profit organization, you CAN get a tax write off for it.
If you find that you have more questions, or would like to donate, please email me directly! Thanks!

A friend...he is sort of a...well...a "guard rhino". He can see the whole gallary from where he sits there...just keeping an eye on things.

Did i show this to you already? This giraffe is made totally of wire and beads...so cool!

Also a favorite!

This is my most favorite picture in all of the gallary! It is a new one and i look at it several times a day! I want it. But...i am a student and broke. But i have the privalege of seeing it at the gallary until it sells. LOVE IT!

This picture is 4 feet tall!

I think the thought going on here is "just try me..." LOL!

Bushman. He also watches me while i work. We chat often!

Ok, you know who this reminds me of? That one author that is super ineresting to read...Augustine Bouroughs or something like that. He wrote Running with Scissors. This is how i picture him in some of his other books.

I love this one! It's one of my favorites. The wave is so perfect.

This is the oddest picture. I like it...and when it sells i will miss it. I think it's about as long as i am tall!

Ratatoullie!!! This picture is huge and i laugh at it every day! I actually gree him each time i come into the gallary, thinking maybe one day he will smile! HA!

This picture stares at me while i'm sitting in the gallary...kind of creepy, but also makes me think a lot. I wonder things like, what she went through, and where the artist got her image from.

The beach is made up of shells and little rocks that cover your feet in a sock like sort. It's very interesting.

This is my view from the gallary. I never get tired of it. I was sitting on a bench in front of te gallary when i took this reading the book of Numbers. (so boring!)

Seeing some of the art images and the pictures of the kids in need makes me homesick for Africa. And I wish mom and dad could bring every needy child home with them :) Your pictures are great! Love you bunches!
